Largest Solar Park in Rajasthan- Bhadla Solar Park

Bhadla Solar Park is one of the World’s Largest Solar Parks in Rajasthan. Equipped with top-notch infrastructure for solar power generation, it is spanned across the region of 45 km with over 10 million solar panels installed. Read this blog on World's Largest Solar Park in Rajasthan to know more about it.

India’s solar capacity is increasing year on year and it is something to be proud of in terms of progress towards renewable energy generation. India is a land of diverse weather conditions and terrains along with regions that receive good sunlight making it a rich source of renewable energy. While solar energy also relies upon sunlight to generate better results, it is perfect to be installed in locations where there is a favorable temperature and sunlight all around the year. Rajasthan is such a region where the land of desert and scorching heat makes the land almost unlivable but on the other hand, gives amazing opportunities to be a rich source of solar energy generation.

  1. Bhadla Solar Park - World’s Largest Solar Park in Rajasthan - Bhadla Solar Park is the World’s Largest Solar Park in Rajasthan and hosts a 3,000 MWp capacity of electricity generation through solar plants situated in the 9000-acre area. Developed keeping in mind the energy goals and renewable energy milestones of the country in mind, it works at the operational capacity of 2245MW with more than 10 million solar panels located at the park.
  2. Bhadla - Land of Desert offering Opportunities for Growth - The Bhadla is situated near Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Spread over the vast land of desert, the district faces over 40 degrees celsius temperature in summers with scorching sunlight making the place almost unfavourable to survive in terms of livability and economical activities. But on the other hand, it gives numerous opportunities to generate huge MWs of electricity through solar panel installations over a large area of land. These characteristics make Bhadla a perfect destination for solar power generation.

  3. Ready to Move Infrastructure Setup for Solar Power Generation - The Solar Park in Bhadla is set to achieve 1,00,000 MW of solar energy in 2022. It is connected to the central transmission line making it ready to move to destinations for solar projects in the country. In terms of infrastructure, the solar park is equipped with transmission lines and transformers to utilize as the source of energy transmission back to the power grids which can be utilized as electricity for commercial and residential needs feeding the power demands immensely.

  4. Efficient Solar Operations - Maximizing Outputs - Bhadla being the land of desert, the dunes and frequent sandstorms can impact the operational efficiency of solar panels. As the sunlight is adequate and the radiation level is high, there needs to be a system which can maximize the outputs in terms of solar power generation. To achieve this and solve the issues of sand covering the panels, the mechanized robots are deployed to clean the panels which are monitored by a control centre set up in the park.

Solar Park - Alternative to Thermal Power Generation

The biggest reason for developing solar parks such as Bhadla is the strategy to move power dependency from thermal power plants to renewable energy. The thermal power plants usually take more than 5-6 years to become fully functional but in the case of a Solar Park such as Bhadla, it is all set to host solar panels within a year or so making it fully functional and equipped with adequate resources to get benefitted of energy generation. Being a greener alternative, it is quite better than thermal power stations which rely on coal for energy production.

Conclusion

Solar power being the need of the hour, Solar Power Parks such as Bhadla are setting new standards and reputations for renewable energy in India. Equipped with top-notch infrastructure and optimized for power generation, it will help the country to move forward to achieve solar milestones.
